With all the hype surrounding the NBA Championship playoffs, the Toronto Raptors players have been getting plenty of love. People can't stop talking about the awesome bromances between so many members of the team, and of course, whether MVP Kawhi Leonard will be coming back for another season. One super important member of the team who often gets overlooked is the coach, so we're here to find out, who is Nick Nurse? He'll be coaching Canada's National Men's team for the 2019 FIBA World Cup.

Nurse is pretty well loved here in Canada, especially after the Raptors took the championship under his direction a few weeks back. He's a pretty lowkey guy, but everything we know about him tells us just how awesome he is:

He's actually an American

Nurse was born in Caroll, Iowa on July 24th, 1967. He grew up in the state and went on to attend university there before moving onto other endeavours, like bringing the Toronto Raptors to their first NBA Championship.

He played ball at the University of Northern Iowa

You can't be a successful basketball coach without some experience on the court. Nurse played for the University of Northern Iowa from 1985 to 1989, appearing in 111 games. He holds the record as the school's all-time 3 point percentage leader (.468).

He started coaching at just 23 years old

After graduating from university with a BA in Accounting, Nurse went on to be a player-coach for the Derby Rams in the British Basketball League for one season. After that, he landed his first full-time coaching gig at Grand View University. He was just 23, making him the youngest college basketball coach in the country at the time.

He'll be coaching Canada's National Men's team for the 2019 FIBA World Cup

It was announced today, June 24th that Nurse has accepted the position as Head Coach of Canada's National Men's basketball team. He'll be working with the team towards the  2019 FIBA World Cup and beyond.

He's married with two kids

Nurse is married to Roberta Santos, who was an assistant girl's volleyball coach at Winthrop University. She's originally from Brazil but spent time in Texas and Florida playing volleyball. The couple has two sons named Noah and Leo.

He has some musical talent

If you were lucky enough to be at The Arkells' most recent concert, you would've been surprised by Nick Nurse's on-stage appearance. The basketball coach joined the Canadian band in a performance of Stevie Wonder's Sign, Sealed, Delivered that had the crowd going wild.
