It's Friday, June 28th and that means that Canada Day long weekend is finally upon us! People all across the country will be spending the next few days drinking on patios, going camping with their friends and family, and of course, wearing tons of red. Canadians tend to take this holiday pretty seriously, but it seems that a lot of Americans don't really get it. YouTuber explains Canada Day to Americans and it's the best thing you'll see all day.
If you haven't heard of Brittlestar, let me be the first to tell you that you've been missing out. His real name is Stewart Reynolds, and he calls himself "the internet's favourite dad".
Earlier today, Brittlestar released a video on his Twitter page called 'Explaining Canada Day to Americans', and to be 100% honest, he totally nailed it. The video shows Brittlestar talking to his neighbour, an American, about why exactly we celebrate the holiday.
The American neighbour is confused, as he doesn't believe that Canada actually has anything to celebrate. Brittlestar is quick to prove him wrong though, and goes on to list things like maternity leave, universal healthcare, and of course, poutine!
Things like the metric system, bagged milk, and butter tarts also made the list of things Brittlestar thinks Canada should celebrate on this historic holiday. He also threw a hilarious roast at American beer in the video saying, "And beer, ACTUAL beer. Not yellow water, beer. And lots of it."
Canadians are absolutely loving the video, and leaving lots of positive comments:
The hilarious video is the perfect way to start your Canada Day long weekend off on a high note. No matter what your plans are this weekend, be sure to have plenty of fun, stay safe, and wear plenty of red to let those Americans know just how proud we are to live in such a great country.
