Most of us know the singer Fergie aka Stacy Ann Ferguson well. Whether it be from her Charlie Brown child actor years, her time spent as a Black Eye Peas member, or just as the Dutchess herself - there's no denying that she's made her mark in Hollywood. The multi-talented artist has accomplished something many young stars struggle with, longevity in the industry.
Something she discussed in depth with iNews reporter Nick Levine this week when he sat down with the singer. Levine revealed that some of Fergie's 'dark past' has been particularly shocking to hear. " I had a little moment of nostalgia. My childhood idol on Meth? It's intense" he said.
Fergie in the past has spoken candidly about her addicted to meth in the early 2000s. However, during her recent interview, she talked about how her meth use resulted in her suffering from a drug related psychosis and delusions. She admitted to hallucinating on a daily basis.
And even opened up about experiencing "softer" hallucinations even after she got sober, saying, "It took a year after getting off that drug for the chemicals in my brain to settle so that I stopped seeing things. I’d just be sitting there, seeing a random bee or bunny.”
At her worst, Fergie remembers that her delusions and paranoia had taken a serious and dangerous turn. She thought she was being tracked by the CIA, the FBI, and a SWAT team and took refuge in a church.
Pacing up and down the aisles the church members tried to kick her out. Her hallucinations were so serious that she scared the people around her.
She remembers imagining that two people were chasing her. That day, she says she thought:
Fortunately, Fergie realized that nobody was after her and it was all a drug related delusion. It was in that moment that she became very aware of the seriousness of her condition, but she said that despite everything, it was a liberating moment.
She is now thankful for events that took place that day, because she says her strength, faith, and hope have led her to something much better now.
As it stands, all is well for the artist who despite going through a divorce with husband Josh Duhamel has released her new music, her sophomore solo album Double Dutchess, and seems happier than ever in her roles as girlboss and mom.
