Netflix just dropped a brand new episode of the new series starring retired talk show host, David Letterman. The show is called "My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman" and Jay-Z was his latest guest.
The show was received raving reviews and his latest episode is extremely juicy. Jay-Z discusses his mom's coming out, his daughter Blue Ivy, his friendship with Kanye West and his relationship with Beyonce. The latter is definitely the most interesting.
In the one-on-one interview, Jay-Z finally opens up about his infamous affair and how he and Beyonce moved past it. The conversation started with Letterman discussing his own well-known affair in order to get Jay-Z to open up.
In response, Jay said:
"I want to cry, I want to be open, I want to have the emotional tools that it takes to keep my family together. And, much like you, I have a beautiful wife who is understanding and knew that I’m not the worst of what I’ve done. We did the hard work of going to therapy, and… we love each other. So, we really put in the work."
So Jay-Z openly admitted that he and Beyonce had to go to therapy after the affair. He even discussed how he feels about Beyonce's Lemonade album and his own music that discusses the rocky parts of their relationship.
"This music that I’m making now is a result of things that have happened already and, like you, I like to believe that we’re in a better place today but still working and communicating and growing."
In the end, Jay-Z admits that the affair happened and it hurt their relationship but they are continuing to work on it to strengthen their relationship. Even though they may write about the past in their lyrics, it is in the past and they're in a better place now.
He ended the conversation by saying, "I’m proud of the father and the husband that I am today because of all the work that was done".
The episode of My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with Jay Z is now available on Netflix.
