Over the weekend, we all received some seriously devastating news when word got out that Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth have decided to separate. The duo has been on and off for a decade now since they starred in The Last Song together, so fans have really been rooting for them and their marriage. Liam Hemsworth commented on Miley Cyrus split and what he said is heartbreaking.

The Australian actor was spotted out with his older brother, Chris Hemsworth in Byron Bay on Monday morning. He was approached by The Daily Mail Australia, and obviously, the hot topic of discussion was news of his divorce. "You don't understand what it's like. I don't want to talk about it, mate," he said.

Hemsworth may not have had a lot to say, but his few words show that he truly is torn up over the very unfortunate situation. After years of much anticipation, he and Cyrus obtained their marriage license back in December 2018, but just eight months into the next step of their relationship, they've called it quits.

"Ever-evolving, changing as partners and individuals, they have decided this is what's best while they both focus on themselves and careers. They still remain dedicated parents to all of their animals they share while lovingly taking this time apart. Please respect their process and privacy."

When the news broke, Cyrus was vacationing in Italy with none other than Brody Jenner's ex, Kaitlynn Carter. The two were spotted making out on a yacht, prompting Jenner to comment that they were truly having a "hot girl summer".

Although it appears that Cyrus isn't too fazed by the breakup, a source has told E! that the split has been a long time coming.

"They have been trying to make it work for months now but haven't felt they were connecting on the level they were feeling when they got married last year ... They really grew apart. Miley and Liam have still been communicating and it wasn't a messy split but they have decided they are at different points in their lives currently."
