Last week Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart shut down pregnancy rumours after an unflattering photo started circulating online. Reinhart, plus her co-star and friend Camila Mendes, were quick to call out publications about this totally false story.
Now, Reinhart has opened up to Teen Vogue about the real meaning of speaking out about this rumour. She revealed that even though she's already over the whole online debacle, it did take a larger toll on her self-esteem than she originally let on.
The actress shared that due to the way it impacted her, it made her more determined to speak out and address the rumours head-on. Reinhart, who is only 21-years old said, "I don't want people to think I'm pregnant if I'm not pregnant. It did take a hit to my self-esteem for a second, and then I kind of picked myself back up and said, 'I'm not going to let this ruin my day!"
Reinhart also admitted that a lot of people tend to sweep rumours and headlines under the rug without addressing them but that's not her style with dealing with false stories. "I'm going to always speak out about something that I feel I need to talk about," she said.
Rumours about the false pregnancy started mere weeks after Reinhart had been seen on a red-carpet with boyfriend and fellow co-star, Cole Sprouse. Sprouse has yet to address claims, even though it was speculated that the (fake) baby was his.
If there is one thing to be learned from this typical run of the rumour mill, it's definitely that Reinhart is not to be messed with. More young women need to address rumours in a positive way, so lead the way Lili!
