Just days following Mac Miller's benefit concert in LA, which had artists such as Vince Staples and John Mayer paying tribute, the cause of death of the late 26-year-old Pittsburgh native has now been revealed.

Shortly after Mac's passing was announced on September 7th, speculations arose about the rapper's cause of death after the coroner had deemed Miller's death "deferred" due to the fact that the scene of the tragedy had been tampered with. From then on, investigators have been working to give a definitive cause of death to Mac's family as well as his fans.
This morning, the cause of death was finally announced as a Fentanyl overdose also involving cocaine and alcohol. If the concept of a rapper dying from Fentanyl and cocaine sounds familiar, it might be because rising rap star Lil Peep died from the same lethal cocktail back last year.
Unfortunately, while awareness surrounding the dangers of Fentanyl is gaining traction, the lethal drug is simultaneously gaining popularity amongst youth and the rap crowd as it's commonly misrepresented as Xanax. The reality of Miller's struggle with drugs had been brought into the limelight following his break up with pop star Ariana Grande earlier this year. She revealed his struggle to remain sober was the reason for their break up.
While the cause of death being announced doesn't change the fact that the music world has lost an icon, it does at least give Miller's friends, family and fans some closure to a tragic situation.
