Remember when Maisie Williams "accidentally" let slip Game of Thrones' Season 8 release date?
Last Wednesday, Metro published an interview with Maisie, who plays Arya Stark in the HBO smash hit, which featured a question about GoT and the length of their shoot.
"We wrap in December and we air our first episode in April ," Williams is quoted as saying in response, adding: "That’s a four-month turnaround for these huge episodes. There’s a lot that goes into the final edit. You would not want to rush this season at all."
Well, as it turns out, there was a bit of a mix up. On Monday evening, Williams posted the following tweet responding to the story:
Just a tweet letting you know this game of thrones release date "quote" I've supposedly given is completely false and taken from an interview I did years ago.— Maisie Williams (@Maisie_Williams) January 30, 2018
Unsurprisingly, the initial story was picked up by numerous outlets who ran the "April" release date yesterday. Soon after, a Google search of Maisie Williams' name featured dozens of articles surrounding Season 8 'return'.
HBO would not confirm nor deny the April report and has only said the show will air its eighth season in 2019.
Of course, the final season could still premiere in April, 2019, as that does make sense (six of the show’s seven seasons debuted in April or the last week of March). But for now, we still don't know when exactly Winter is coming.
