PepsiCo Canada is shelling out for a Super Bowl ad on behalf of its sparkling water beverage, and guess who is starring in it? MICHAEL FREAKING BUBLÉ! It's the first Super Bowl advertisement for the four-time Grammy award-winning Canadian singer, and we must admit the whole thing is super serendipitous. The name of the sparkling water is bubly. Bublé for bubly? *screams*
We're not the only ones who think this is ~*too perfect*~. Bublé believes he has a special connection with the brand because their names sound so similar. "I had a blast doing my first Super Bowl commercial with bublé – I mean bubly," Bublé said. "Because of our similar names, the brand and I share a special bond." Awww. Bless his little heart.
The 30-second advertisement will appear during the game on Feb. 3. Can't wait for the Super Bowl? Check out the 15-second teaser which shows Bublé sitting on the floor of a convenience store, surrounded by cans of bubly and doing what anyone—from this day forward—who pops a can of bubly should be required by law to do.
"We knew that Bublé was the perfect person to help people crack a smile," Lourdes Seminario, Director of Marketing Hydration Portfolio for PepsiCo Canada, said. "With his help, not only do we get to set the record straight that it's bubly, not bublé, we also get to showcase bubly's four flavors – all featuring their own colorful smiles and witty greetings on the cans' tabs, which bubly fans have come to know and love." The ad features the brand's strawberrybubly, limebubly, grapefruitbubly and orangebubly.
bubly got to Bublé first, but we think his career in carbonated beverages is just getting started. Champagne, anyone? Hey, Moët! Forget caviar: the people want Bublé with their bubbles.
