A lot of people may be experiencing deja vu recently when they catch up with pop star Miley Cyrus. You may be asking why it feels like you’re living in 2010. She recently changed her entire look to resemble her Disney Channel persona, Hannah Montana. And now Miley Cyrus is shouting out her former Disney Channel stars.
When Miley uploaded a video of herself singing some Hannah Montana, while rocking her new blonde hair and bangs, the internet went crazy. Hannah Montana fans have since grown up and were ecstatic to have a fun little throwback to enjoy. But nobody expected her to actually ever mention the longtime feud that has been going on between former Disney stars, Selena Gomez and Demi Lovato.
This past weekend, Miley performed 3 new original songs at the BBC Radio 1’s Big Weekend in the UK. One of her new hits, “Cattitude”, is where she later changed the lyrics of her song to reference both Selena and Demi. You’ll never guess what she said.
The original lyrics of her song are, “I love you Nicki, but I listen to Cardi.” Miley is obviously referencing another long time feud that has been going on between rappers Nicki Minaj and Cardi B. A bold choice to begin with.
Fans began to make memes out of these new lyrics (naturally) like, “I love you Miley but I listen to Taylor [Swift].” In good nature, Miley joined in on the fun replacing the names with herself and Ariana Grande.
The internet only freaked out however, when she replaced the two names with Selena and Demi’s. One twitter user even suggested that Miley should praise both of them instead of diminishing one, in the true style of uplifting other women.
Miley never responded to the reactions she got from the tweet. She could have meant the reference to be taken as a joke. One thing's for sure, these three former Disney stars still have some of the most passionate fans.
