Wow. What a day. It makes me both sad and happy to announce that The Bachelor's Nick Viall and Vanessa Grimaldi have called off their engagement nearly 5-months after Nick proposed on national television.
The two struggled with long distance throughout their relationship, with Vanessa based in Montreal and Nick in Los Angeles, with no public conversation about either couple making the big commitment or move. The two had discussed finding a 'middle ground' between Canada and LA, but apparently never found the right place. Grimaldi, who is super close to her family, made it very clear on The Bachelor that she needed to live somewhere that gave her easy enough access to her loved ones. Nick, a reality star & famed influencer, also made it clear that the move up north wasn't feasible for his career.
In the beginning stages of their public relationship, both Nick and Vanessa were scrutinized for looking 'uncomfortable' as early as their 'After The Final Rose' special, shortly after the proposal aired. The following morning on Good Morning America, the couple also looked dull as opposed to electric, causing many fans to question the health of their relationship.
Break-up rumours have been circling for the past couple months as Viall and Grimaldi have been Instagramming plenty of solo shots. Vanessa, with her family back in Montreal - Nick, living his best life in California. An inside source even reveals that Vanessa had been communicating with an ex during recent months, expressing her stress in the relationship.
The couple was even spotted looking miserable together on a flight in July to attend a wedding, picture above. Sources claimed Vanessa was jealous of Nick's continued burning star. The Canadian native apparently had since wanted to further her acting career and lashed out at Viall for not helping her book bigger roles.
The two released this joint statement to E! News this morning: "It's with a great amount of heartbreak for the both us as we have decided to end our engagement. We gave this relationship our all and we are saddened that we did not get the fairytale ending we hoped for. We will continue to be there for each other no matter what. This hasn't been an easy decision, however, as we part ways, we do so with lots of love and admiration for each other."
Nick recently shared this thankful Instagram of himself with a decorative caption thanking the Bachelor franchise for all the love and memories, which really makes me hope we can expect a fourth try for the Bachelor vet. I know I'd tune in. We love you Nick, you always have our rose!
