Paris Hilton is the reason why so many celebs are now famous for being famous. The successful heiress was once a reality tv star, making money off of her lifestyle as a rich socialite. People credit Paris for starting an era of reality television.
During the height of her successful reality career, she was working on The Simple Life with Nicole Richie and on the weekends she was always spotted partying with Lindsay Lohan and Kim Kardashian.
But in 2004, her life changed forever when a private video that was made between her and her boyfriend, Rick Salomon, was released on the internet. Paris' name became synonymous with "sex tape".
Paris has never spoken out directly about the leaked video and how it affected her, until now.
A movie starring Paris called, "The American Meme", will be shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York, where she talks candidly about how the video affected her.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Paris explicitly describes the release of the tape as "It was like being raped. It felt like I've lost part of my soul and been talked about in such cruel and mean ways."
She went on to say, "I literally wanted to die at some points. I was like, 'I just don't want to live.'" Paris received despicable comments after the video was leaked without her consent. TV shows and other celebrities mocked her for being the "star" of the video.
Here's a clip from "The American Meme":
She went on to say that, "Because I thought everything was taken away from me. I didn't want to be known as that. I would never be who I could have been." She also claims that she never made a dime from that video but her ex-boyfriend, Rick is said to have made millions.
She even talks about how she has trust issues to this day. She has done incredibly well for herself, she's a successful international DJ and she had her own hotels, but she still doesn't really "trust people".
