Rihanna Officially Responds To Offensive Snapchat Ad
She's not happy about it.
It was only yesterday that we were reporting on Snapchat's latest controversy. If you missed it,, that asked: "Would you rather: Slap Rihanna or Punch Chris Brown".
Fans were in shock that the app company would ever allow something like this to be created and then allow it to surface on the app.
Snapchat responded very quickly by saying, "The advert was reviewed and approved in error, as it violates our advertising guidelines." The Snapchat representative went on to say, "We immediately removed the ad last weekend, once we became aware. We are sorry that this happened".
Fans agreed that it was too late to apologize, the damage was already done. Well, Rihanna seems to agree with fans because she posted this angry message on her Instagram responding to the controversy.
In the Instagram story, she says
"Now SNAPCHAT I know you already know you ain't my fav app out there! But I'm just trying to figure out what the point was with this mess! I'd love to call it ignorance, but I know you ain't that dumb! You spent money to animate something that would intentionally bring shame to DV victims and made a joke of it!!! This isn't about my personal feelings, cause I don't have much of them...but all the women, children and men that have been victims of DV in the past and especially the ones who haven't made it out yet...you let us down! Shame on you. Throw the whole app-oligy away."
Well, Rihanna said exactly what everyone was thinking! Even though Snapchat made it seem that it was a small error made, Rihanna claimed that they knew what they were doing when they spent money to have the animation made. She also called out Snapchat for bringing shame to victims of domestic violence.
She finished off the rant by saying that they can throw away their apology and "Shame on them". Nobody should mess with RiRi, she won't let it slide and she'll tell you exactly how she feels.
