Ah remember what a simple time 2008 was? When jeans were low rise, phones flipped open, and Taylor Swift still sang country songs. It was that same year when Taylor Swift famously dated her first high-profile boyfriend, Joe Jonas. Joe's brother, Nick Jonas, just so happened to be dating a young Disney star at that time - Selena Gomez. Taylor, Joe, Nick and Selena would often go on double dates together - solidifying one of the strongest friendships in pop culture to date.
Selena and Nick didn't have the relationship dreams were made of, which is weird considering they were the two cutest teens around at the time. Selena and her current-but-also-ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber have revealed that in her relationship with Jonas, Selena was often kept at a distance. The two would take separate cars to go to and fro places, as a way of keeping Nick's loyal Jo-Bro fanbase calm. Nick and Selena would never publicly confirm that they were dating, nor would Joe and Taylor until much later.
Nick recently appeared on BBC Radio One's 'Heart Rate Monitor' where host, Nick Grimshaw, attempted to raise the star's heartbeat with difficult questions, comments and clips. One video that got his pulse beating? A personal message from his ex, Selena.
"Hello Nicholas, it is Selena Gomez," the star began. "Don’t need to say my whole name with you, but it - I know what you’re doing and I would like to remind you of a time where we all went to Central Park together. It was definitely over 10 years ago. I was wondering if that brought up anything for you. I know Central Park was really beautiful. It was actually my first time, maybe that says something. If not, I failed.”
Nick's pulse rose to 90 beats per minute as he fumbled to explain what Selena was talking about. OK, so this was at a time when my brothers and I were a boy band. We were in Central Park and [me and Selena] were very private about our relationship. She was unhappy that her Central Park experience was ruined by the fact that I walked about 20 feet away from her. Even though they were taking pictures of us and obviously we were there together it was like, ‘It would be better if we stand about 25 feet apart.’”
Ugh, no wonder Selena was pissed! Nick went on to say, "it ruined her Central Park experience, so her and Taylor Swift, who was dating my brother Joe at the time — but we never confirmed it — walked 25 feet behind us as we walked through the park by ourselves."
Turns out a Gomez never forgets, and nor should she. Walking with your boyfriend's brother's girlfriend through Central Park is the opposite of romantic. Shame on you, Nicholas. Shame.
