Selena Gomez was the most followed person on Instagram for two years, before Cristiano Ronaldo overtook her for the number one spot back in October 2018 during her social media hiatus. The singer and actress took a break from Instagram back in September 2018 and Selena Gomez just posted today her first Instagram picture in almost four months, since her social media break.
For her return to Instagram, the former Disney star posted a photo slideshow consisting of three pictures of herself. As of today, Selena Gomez is officially back on Instagram and it looks like she has a positive outlook for the new year, based on her caption.
"It’s been awhile since you have heard from me, but I wanted to wish everyone a happy new year and to thank you for your love and support," read the caption to Gomez's Instagram post. "Last year was definitely a year of self-reflection, challenges and growth. It’s always those challenges which show you who you are and what you are capable of overcoming".

"Trust me, it’s not easy, but I am proud of the person I am becoming and look forward to the year ahead," concluded Selena Gomez's Instagram caption. "Love you all".
The singer's return to Instagram has gotten tons of fans excited. Since being posted less than 30 minutes ago, the picture has already gotten over 1.2 million likes and 50,000 comments. Many fans are commenting their love and support for the "Back to You" singer.
Selena Gomez's latest Instagram post is the first since September 2018 and since she has been released from rehab. The singer checked into rehab at the beginning of October 2018 and left the mental health treatment centre in November 2018, according to Refinery29. Justin Bieber's marriage to Hailey Baldwin is believed to be one of the reasons for Selena Gomez's hospitalization.
In September 2018, Selena Gomez announced that she was taking an indefinite break from Instagram. "Update: taking a social media break. Again," read the caption in her post announcing the hiatus. "As much as I am grateful for the voice that social media gives each of us, I am equally grateful to be able to step back and live my life present to the moment I have been given. Kindness and encouragement only for a bit! Just remember- negative comments can hurt anybody’s feelings."
Now, almost four months later, the singer has made her return to Instagram. We're happy to hear that Selena Gomez is back and doing better than before!
