The Arkells just revealed on Twitter what it would take for them to return to the Ottawa Bluesfest stage again and they seem to be a little salty.
In response to a fan's tweet asking if the band would come back to the festival, the Hamilton, Ontario band said they would come back if they got to play the main stage.
If they give us main stage, we are in. https://t.co/BGZshrMn3P— ARKELLS (@arkellsmusic) 9 July 2018
Ottawa Bluesfest is a staple of the summer in Canada's capital city and should be on everyone's bucket list (especially after Shawn Mendes completely rocked it this year). It has been going on for a few years and like most major festivals features a couple different stages.
The Arkells are familiar with this, having played side stages both times they were at Bluesfest. In 2012 they were on the River Stage and in 2015 they performed on the Canadian Stage.
But now it looks like the band is done being on the sidelines and they wanted the festival to know they would come back, but with the condition that it is the main stage or nothing.
Despite the band being a little salty, fans are really on board with the idea of the Arkells headlining future Bluesfest shows and would love to see them up on the main stage in 2019.
There are a few reasons why Arkells didn't play the main stage in both years they were previously at Bluesfest. For starters, they had some tough competition. Ottawa Bluesfest delivers some killers acts every year. In 2012 the main stage featured acts like LMFAO and Snoop Dogg, while in 2015 it had The Tragically Hip and Iggy Azalea among others.
Meanwhile, the Arkells at those times were a bit of a lesser known entity, only really getting more international attention the following years in 2016 when they released their song Drake's Dad.
None the less, now that the Arkells have said all it would take to get them back at Ottawa Bluesfest, fans think organizers should jump on this opportunity immediately!
