It's been a wild 24 hours for fans of Ariana Grande and Pete Davidson. Then again, it's been a whirlwind for those watching the entire relationship, considering the celeb pair got engaged only after a few weeks of dating this past summer. That is until deciding to part ways just yesterday only a few days after Davidson had joked about the star breaking up him on SNL's latest episode.
Regardless, ever since TMZ reported yesterday that the engagement between the 25-year-old singer and 24-year-old comedian was off as well as their relationship as a whole, fans of Grande have been trying to figure out exactly what set off the breakup. Considering that the pair hasn't treaded smooth waters since they got together, it seemed like odd timing for Grande and Davidson to split.
Several theories had been thrown into the mix but a source close to Ariana told HollywoodLife that the breakup was "related to Mac's death, in addition to the Manchester bombing. You don't just carry on life as usual after experiencing that much trauma in such a short period of time. Ariana needs to heal. She needs to sort her head out, along with her emotions and feelings. She has gone through two absolutely appalling and emotionally damaging events and Pete can't 'fix' her- they both know that no matter how much love they have for each other."
While some fans initially thought the break up could be a rumour, Ariana's silence on the subject where she usually speaks up for Pete in the wake of any public backlash has made it glaringly obvious to fans that something is up. Especially seeing as Grande took to Twitter this afternoon in celebration of scoring the role of Glinda in the 15th anniversary special of Wicked, simultaneously offering zero response to the rumours that have left the couple trending on the platform since last night.
Pete's activity on social media has also reinforced the rumours considering last night his Instagram account was taken down completely. Many fans believe the move was in order to protect his mental health in the wake of the news and possible badgering from fans.
While the timing was a shock, many fans aren't necessarily surprised about the break up itself. Pete has been extremely outspoken when it comes to talking about Ariana to the point where many fans felt he just went way too far sometimes. To a lot of fans of Grande, the break up was a result of Ariana finally reaching her breaking point.
pete davidson may have made ariana happy but he also publicly treated her without any respect and acted as if he was dating the concept of a celebrity rather than an actual person who’s been through a lot of shit so yeah i’m gonna think it’s a good thing that they broke up pic.twitter.com/CxPFb0Qr71— taylor ✨ (@gothdadsclub) October 14, 2018
Regardless of the lack of confirmation from Ariana or Pete on the breakup rumours, fans are still convinced that the pair's actions as of late are showing signs of something being wrong in paradise. We can only hope that whatever is going on will turn out to be the best for both of them!
