2 Canadians Made Instagram's 2018 "Rich List" But They Were Classified As Americans
Justin Bieber and Yolanda Gampp were both misidentified as Americans.
The world is a much different place than it was just a couple years ago. Thanks to the rise of social media, Instagram is actually one of the most lucrative ways to make money and celebrities and influencers are doing just that.
Instagram put out a list of the richest social media stars and how much they get paid to post. Two Canadians made the list but no one would know it, because Instagram seems to think they're from the USA.
The first is none other than Justin Bieber, from Stratford, Ontario. In a list of the highest earning Instagram stars in The States, Justin comes in at number 6, making $630,000 for each post.
While Justin Bieber does spend a lot of time in the USA, especially since that is where his fianceelives, but none the less Bieber is born in raised and Canada and has always been proud of that so Instagram should acknowledge it too.
The other is a little less known than Justin but none the less a social media star by her own right. Yolanda Gampp is the mastermind and baker behind the Youtube channel How To Cake It, which has 3.8 million subscribers.
According to the rich list, Yolanda makes $3500 per post which is obviously much less than Justin Bieber but still impressive. While the two have very different payouts, one thing they have in common is that they are both Canadian.
A lot of Yolanda's fans may be in the United States, but she lives and works right here in the Greater Toronto Area, which is why it makes no sense that Instagram thinks she is in the USA.
Unlike Justin and Yolanda, the top 5 earners in Instagram's USA list are thankfully confirmed Americans. Kylie Jenner takes the top spot, followed by Selena Gomez, Kim Kardashian, Beyonce, and Dwayne Johnson rounding out the States' richest social media stars.
