She's Miss Anthropocene! Grimes' life in Canada before meeting Elon Musk was pretty out of the ordinary. Today, the couple shares a son together but just years ago they met on a whim on Twitter after bonding over a shared love for technology and artificial intelligence.

The electronic and hip-hop singer was born in Vancouver on March 17, 1988 under the birth name Claire Elise Boucher, per IMDb.

After being raised in Vancity, Grimes made the move across the country to Montreal in 2006 where All Music claims she studied neuroscience at McGill University.

A year later, her musical career was born as she began creating tunes using inspiration from the album Person Pitch by electronic musician, Panda Bear.

It took a few years for the singer's first album to drop and in 2010 came the "cassette-only album" titled Geidi Primes, according to Business Insider

That same year saw another album called Halfaxa which led to her first tour alongside Swedish singer, Lykke Li.

Business Insider claims that the success of her music led to Grimes eventually dropping out of McGill.

The singers' third studio album Visions arrived in 2012 after she signed with the British indie label, 4AD. All Music writes that it was "recorded in a matter of weeks in Grimes' Montreal apartment."

In 2013, the singer signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation management company and two years later dropped her fourth album, Art Angels.

This year saw Grimes' latest album Miss Anthropocene, which came just months before the birth of her first child.

According to her official website, a "misanthrope" is "a person who dislikes humankind and avoids human society." While an "Anthropocene" is "the current geological age, viewed as the period during which human activity has been the dominant influence on climate and the environment."

Thus comes "Miss Anthropocene", the "Goddess of Climate Crisis".

During this time, IMDb claims that the 32-year-old has had some interesting life experiences.

Grimes joined a pal from school on a three-week adventure down the Mississippi River in 2009, IMDb writes.

A decade later, the singer apparently got part of her eyeball surgically removed as part of an experimental surgery aimed to cure seasonal depression.

According to Billboard, Grimes said that the surgery "eliminated all blue light from my vision through an experimental surgery that removes the top film of my eyeball and replaces it with an orange ultra-flex polymer."

However, this came a year after meeting her partner, Elon Musk.

The two met on Twitter when they bonded over both making the same joke about the artificial intelligence experiment, Rococo Basilisk.

After a series of riffs, their on-and-off relationship eventually solidified and Grimes shared that she was expecting her first child this past January. She admitted that Musk was the father of the baby in March.

The couple welcomed their son in early May, much to the confusion of fans who spent days figuring out how to pronounce the unique name, X Æ A-12. It's actually super easy according to the dad who explained the pronunciation is "X Ash A-12".

The eccentric Canadian singer apparently came up with most of their baby's name, explaining on Twitter that "X [is] the unknown variable. Æ [is] my elven spelling of Ai (love &/or Artificial intelligence). A-12 = precursor to SR-17 (our favorite aircraft). No weapons, no defences, just speed. Great in battle, but non-violent."

Now, the couple occasionally share snaps of their newborn though it seems they still disagree on how to pronounce the baby's name.
