12 Amazing HRM Bike Paths You Must Ride This Summer

Are you itching to get your bike out of its winter storage space? Are you just dying to go explore some trails outside of the minimal bike paths in the city? Since the weather is getting nice and we’re almost back to summer it’s time to get your bike tuned up for some new adventures.

After hearing the news of the Macdonald Bridge Bike and Pedestrian path re-opening sometime in June, this got us thinking about all the amazing bike trails the HRM has! Below is a list of trails that you should definitely check out this summer.

First Lake Glen Slauenwhite Trail

Lower Sackville, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 3.3 km

Out in Lower Sackville, this gorgeous trail wraps around the lake, giving you the perfect escape for a bike ride. 

Atlantic View Trail

Lawrencetown, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 10 km

Leading you to the beautiful Lawrencetown Beach, this bike path is great not only in the summer but also year round. 

Fight Trail

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 24 km

This awesome trail close to Purcell's Cove goes right through the remains of a burned forest.

Musquodoboit Trailway

Musquodoboit Harbour, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 15 km

Totally worth the trip to find amazing views on the 9 km journey around the park. It's also a section of the Trans-Canada Trail!

Salt Marsh Trail

Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 6.5 km

The perfect trail for the leisurely summer bike ride you've been waiting for. 

Shearwater Flyer Trail

Cole Harbour, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 8 km

A very remote, beautiful trail going through marshes and bogs. The trail follows an old railroad track and you can geocache while you're on your trip!

Shubie Park

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 18.5 km

Pack a picnic lunch and head out to Shubie Park for a great day trip!

Spider Lake

Dartmouth, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 10 km

This is the perfect trail for a beginner who wants to explore gorgeous forests. This trail is also good for learning how to master hills. 

Chain of Lakes Trail

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 7.25 k

After your day of cycling, enjoy a beautiful sunset and pop in the water for a post-bike swim!

Point Pleasant Park Trails

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 3.36 km

A classic Halifax biking staple. You can never go wrong with Point Pleasant Park. 

Sir Sanford Fleming

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 2.8 km

The unbelievable views at the end of the ride, as well as from the top of the tower, are unreal and totally worth the bike trip. 

Whopper Dropper

Halifax, Nova Scotia

Length of Trail: 16 km

Grab some adrenaline seeking buddies and head out to the Whopper Dropper! This awesome trail will get your blood pumping and make you feel energized!
