There’s no worse feeling than waking up with a massive hangover New Years Day and realizing all you have in the fridge is a bottle of ketchup and some OJ. We put together a list of restaurants in Halifax that will not only be open on January 1st, but who will also be serving some INCREDIBLE brunch buffets to help you start off 2017 right.

Some of these holiday breakfast events will require reservations, while others will be super affordable. Scan through the list and make your New Years Day plans now – your hungover self will thank you Jan 1!

1. Seasons // 1980 Robie Street

Head over to the Atlantica Hotel on Robie Street and cure your New Years Eve hangover with their festive brunch, served from 11am to 2pm. Enjoy all-you-can-eat smoked bacon, sausage, Belgian waffles, scrambled eggs and an omelet station all for only $50. For reservation info click here.

2. elements on hollis // 1181 Hollis Street

The Westin Hotel will be serving a New Years Day brunch buffet at their restaurant Elements from 11am to 2:30pm. Live music will be playing as guests indulge in all their brunch favorites and some delicious seafood dishes for $69 per person.

3. Maxwell’s Plum // 1600 Grafton Street

Luckily for us Maxwell’s will be offering their famous anytime breakfast deal on New Years Day – for just under $10 guests can enjoy eggs, bacon, toast and fresh cut fries with the purchase of a beverage.

4. Canvas Resto Lounge // 1583 Brunswick Street

For only $30 you can enjoy the full breakfast buffet at Canvas Resto Lounge in the Cambridge Suites Hotel from 10:30am to 3pm on New Years Day – no reservations are required but if you’re dining with a big group it might be good to give them a call ahead of time!

5. Harbourstone Sea Grill & Pour House // 1919 Upper Water Street

The Marriot hotel’s Harbourstone Restaurant will be serving up a delicious New Year’s Day Brunch and some mimosas to kick off 2017 in style – click here for reservation information!

6. Tempo // 1875 Barrington Street

From 11am to 3pm Tempo Food & Drink in the Delta Hotel on Barrington will be serving gourmet eggs benedict, lobster & brie omelets, French toast and more! Make your first meal of 2017 a good one at Tempo – gluten free and vegan options brunch options are also available!

7. Gio // 1725 Market Street

Indulge in a champagne brunch on New Years Day at Gio in The Prince George Hotel from 12pm to 2pm January 1st. Enjoy live music and a massive buffet of delicious food to start the new year off right – for reservation information click here.

8. The Keg // 1712 Market St

If you’ve had a long night and don’t wake up until late afternoon (which is legit, it’s New Years Day), The Keg will be open at 4pm on January 1st and offering diners their full menu. Feel free to grab a delicious steak dinner and refuel for 2017!
