Heading to the movies is without a doubt one of the absolute best things to do during the fall season. Once the chilly weather hits, there's nothing better than bundling up in comfy clothes, heading to the theatre and eating your weight in snacks while you watch that film you've been dying to see for weeks.
It's a pastime that can't get much better... unless it's free.
On October 27th, Cineplex is making your trip to the movies even more enjoyable with free films and seriously discounted munchies.
For the eighth consecutive year, Cineplex Community Day will treat guests to a selection of popular movies, with all proceeds from donations and select concession sales supporting the company’s national charitable partner, WE Charity - an international charity that partners with communities through a holistic, sustainable development model that equips families with the tools and skills they need to lift themselves out of poverty.
Want to help out? All you have to do is attend a free movie and buy your snacks at a discounted price. Concession items like popcorn, soft drinks and select candy will be on sale for just $2.50 each - and 100% of proceeds go to WE.
This year’s line-up of free films includes popular releases from Paramount Pictures for movie-lovers of all ages, including Sherlock Gnomes, Daddy’s Home 2, Transformers: The Last Knight, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows and Book Club. And in exchange for a $2.50 donation to WE Charity, all participating theatres will also be selling a variety of fun, movie-themed merchandise like plushtoys, keychains, accessories, drink toppers and popcorn holders!
Cineplex theatres in Halifax will open their doors at 9:00 AM (local time) on Saturday, October 27, 2018, with tickets available on a first-come, first-served basis. Movies will begin at 9:30 AM (local time) and run free all morning. All locations will return to regular programming in the afternoon.
Films will be shown in English and French. In Halifax proper, free movies will be shown at Cineplex Cinemas Park Lane and Scotiabank Theatre Halifax, but guests are encouraged to visit the Cineplex Community Day website for a list of participating theatres, showtimes and available languages.
