7 Syrian refugee children killed tragic house fire in Halifax, Nova Scotia and Canadians are now sending their condolences to the family.

Hearts were broken this morning across Canada when it was revealed that seven children from a Syrian refugee family had been tragically killed in a house fire in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Now, Justin Trudeau, officials, and many Canadians are sending their condolences to the refugee children and family that were killed in the Halifax house fire. The fire is one of the deadliest the city has seen in recent history, according to CTV News.

Halifax Regional Police announced today in a news release on Tuesday, February 19 that seven children ranging from as young as three-months-old to 15-years-old were killed by the blaze. The parents are currently in the hospital for their injuries. The mother is facing non-life-threatening injuries and is expected to survive. However, the father is battling life-threatening injuries, according to CTV News

Imam Wael Haridy of the Nova Scotia Islamic Community Centre told CTV News that the Syrian family fled the country and moved to Canada because of the civil war in Syria. They started their new life in Canada approximately two years ago.  

Many Canadians have been heartbroken over the incident and several people have taken to social media to send their condolences to the family. Check out what Justin Trudeau and other Canadian officials and politicians have had to say below.

The family attended the Ummah Masjid And Community Center, and they have released the names and ages of all the victims on Facebook

  • Rana – 3 years old
  • Hala – 4 years old
  • Ghala – 8 years old
  • Mohammed – 10 years old
  • Rola – 12 years old
  • Ahmed – 15 years old

A funeral will be held at the Ummah Masjid And Community Center either tomorrow or the day after, the mosque announced on their Facebook page. It will be held at the Ummah Mosque. 

A GoFundMe page has also been set up to help raise funds for the family as they deal with their tragic loss. It was created a few hours ago earlier today. So far, over $7,000 has already been raised, and the campaign has fundraised almost halfway to its $15,000 goal. You can visit the GoFundMe campaign page on their website
