6 Morning Routines Of Highly Successful People
The things they do to help them win at life!
Successful people, whether it be politicians like Barack Obama, actresses like Jennifer Aniston or businesswomen like Oprah Winfrey, all have one thing in common: they wake up early.
I myself am absolutely not a morning person but it's clear that if you want to be successful, you're going to have to drag yourself from those cozy covers and get to work as early as possible.
But that's not the only thing successful people do in the mornings in order to build and maintain the empires that they have created. Each successful person in this list have unique morning routines that help wake them up, get them energized and motivated for the day ahead of them.
In the next few pages I'll outline the morning routines of successful people including the first thing they do when they wake up, their exercise routines, what they eat for breakfast, any rituals they practice, and readings they like to do every day when they wake up. Maybe you'll learn a thing or two and incorporate these into your own morning routines!

Jen wakes up at 4:30/5 am on workdays and 8/9 am on non-workdays because she knows the importance of getting things done early in the mornings, even though she says she's more of a late-night person. The first thing she does when she wakes up at the crack of dawn is make herself a cup of hot water with a slice of lemon in it.
She then washes her face with just soap and water to wake herself up for the rest of her day then she'll use some kind of Aveeno moisturizer with SPF.
Oprah also knows the real value waking up early has in her life. She wakes up at around 6am, sometimes earlier or sometimes a bit later. She's said in previous interviews that she never sets an alarm because she doesn't believe in them.
Oprah says the first thing she thinks in the morning is "Oh I'm alive. Thank you!" This puts her into a grateful state of mind for the rest of the day.
The beloved ex-president of the United States has a different approach to waking up in the morning. Instead of having a set time to wake up every single day he only wakes up 2 hours before his first event of the day, although I'm sure his daily events start pretty early anyways.
The first thing he prioritizes in the morning is exercise, which we'll outline in the next page. But before he starts his exercise he'll shower and shave to prepare for his workout and the rest of the day.
Another advocate for waking up at the crack of dawn, Gwyneth starts her day at 5 am! Then, the very first thing she does is brush her teeth, seems simple but obviously a very important way to start the day.
Then she wrangles her two kids into their school uniforms, feeds them and drives them both to school before she can start any of her next activities.
Mark Zuckerberg always starts his day of by waking up at 8 am sharp. He then does what everyone would expect him to do, he checks Facebook. He also checks Facebook Messenger and Whatsapp all before he does anything else in his day.
As Vogue's Editor-In-Chief, Wintour has a very busy day that always begins by waking up at 5:45am. She's a big advocate of starting her day with exercise so that's always what she does immediately after waking up, which we'll talk about in detail in the next page.

Jennifer is pretty intense about her workout routine, and it's clear that it pays off big time. She starts her day with her trainer her puts her through a routine that includes spinning for 30 minutes and then 40 minutes of yoga.
But it doesn't end there.. she then goes to the gym where she either does strength training, the treadmill, the bike or the elliptical depending on how she's feeling that day. She advocates that keeping her body confused and never doing the same routine everyday is the best way to exercise.
She usually gets to the office just 30 minutes after she wakes up, around 6:30 am and goes to the gym downstairs. There she'll get on the treadmill and entertains herself by playing Scrabble on her iPad.

For breakfast Jen usually has a protein shake with bananas, blueberries, frozen cherries, stevia, vegetable mix or dynamic greens, maca powder and a little bit of cocoa.
If she doesn't have a protein shake she'll make toast with poached eggs and avocado, or she'll have millet cereal with almond milk and bananas. Sounds like a healthy breakfast to me! She always has her breakfast before she starts her elaborate workout routines.
After her workout she'll have some sort of green drink. Usually her morning drinks will contain some spinach, parsley, apple juice, cucumbers and blending that all up. Sometimes she'll also make herself a skim cappuccino or chai latte before she does her workout to kickstart her energy for the day.
She'll also sometimes enjoy medium-boiled eggs with a piece of multigrain toast around 8:30 am if she wants something more substantial.
Obama is an advocate for not drinking coffee at all in the mornings. Instead he'll opt for orange juice, green tea or simply just water. For breakfast he will eat eggs, whole grain toast and bacon. Reportedly his doctor gave him a cholesterol warning so he had to cut out the bacon, which he probably replaced with another form of fatty protein.
Every morning Gwyneth Paltrow drinks a breakfast smoothie that will actually cost you $200 a glass to recreate. She posted the recipe on her blog so I'll share the ingredients of this pricey drink with you.
It contains almond milk, almond butter, coconut oil, vanilla mushroom protein powder, maca powder, ashwaghanda, he shou wa, cordyceps, moon dust, Himalayan salt and vanilla powder.
Zuckerberg is anything but picky when it comes to foods in the mornings. Since he's such a busy person, he doesn't waste time on small decisions like what healthy or smart choice to make at breakfast time.
He usually just eats whatever he feels like that morning, without wasting time on second thoughts. This also shows in his choice of clothing, which is minimal and requires little thought and effort.
Anna Wintour has said she enjoy Starbucks for breakfast. She didn't reveal whether that meant just a coffee, a muffin, or even a breakfast sandwich. But I'm sure it's safe to assume that it's something healthy and low-fat.

After she washes her face and applies her moisturizer, Jen usually practices about 20 minutes of meditation, or only 10 minutes if her day is rushed. She uses a set called the Transcendental Meditation mantra every time she practices her meditation, which is said to reduce daily stress.
Around 8am Oprah will practice a sitting meditation for 20 minutes. If she's in a rush though she'll cut it down to about 10-12 minutes. This allows her to relax without the pressure of rushing through her meditations, she can modify it to meet her needs for the day.
Family is clearly very important to Barack Obama. Every morning he makes sure to make time for his family in his morning routine. To do this he always eats breakfast with them before his day starts, before his daughters head off to school and also before his wife, Michelle, begins her busy day.
Gwyneth Paltrow is a big advocator of practicing mindfulness in the mornings and also throughout her day. She follows a 3-step meditation program made by her holistic health expert.
Her morning meditations are for starting the day positively, her afternoons are for visualizing what you want to happen for the rest of your day and her evenings are for reflecting on the day, letting go of things that were unexpected, and recognizing your accomplishments.
Zuckerberg puts in around 50-60 hours of work a week at Facebook, which means he has a very busy work schedule. Oprah doesn't mention any readings she does in the mornings, but she does mention that she makes a lot of international and financial phone calls. After her workout, meditation, and breakfast is finished she'll get on the phone with her bank and make any money transfers she needs to get done.
She's also mentioned that she calls countries like Africa, where the time difference requires her to reach people early, before they go to sleep.
After he finishes his breakfast and workout in the morning, Obama always reads the paper, yes a physical paper, to catch up on world news and politics. He enjoys catching up on current affairs by reading The New York Times and watching ESPN before he starts his workday.

Instead of doing any sort of reading in the mornings, Anna Wintour will mostly read and reply to emails while she's at her daily blowout in the salon. This way she can stay up to date on any work she missed before going into the office.
