Even if you've never seen Riverdale, you probably know who Madelaine Petsch is. She currently plays Cheryl Blossom in Riverdale, but she also has a successful YouTube channel and is #goals with her boyfriend. She can be seen in adorable pictures on her Instagram, and in those photos you can probably see that she has an unreal body. Madelaine spoke with People recently about her diet, and some of you may be shocked to know she's actually 100% vegan and plant based.
Madelaine, who admits she's been plant based her whole life, says it helps her body to stay fueled and running smoothly. Being vegan these days is way more popular than it used to be, and Madelaine makes it look easy. Vegans don't eat any animal products, such as dairy, meat, eggs, fish, and a lot of vegans stay away from honey as well.
I think a lot of people have this idea that vegans only eat vegetables and fruit, and you're always hungry. Madelaine's diet is very balanced, and she gets in around 1,700 calories per day which is perfect for the amount she works out. She told People about her workout routine as well, saying "I exercise for an hour and a half: A 2 - 3 mile run, and then strength training". Now onto her diet. She makes sure she eats a clean, processed-free diet and is a creature of habit when it comes to her meals.
Because she works out so much, she says she drinks 11 to 13 water bottles a day. Wow, no wonder she's always glowing! For breakfast, she always has overnight oats and coffee with almond milk. For a snack, she loves apples with almond butter and 1 scoop of Macro Greens powder in water. Her lunch is simple but super tasty and it consists of spinach, cranberries, walnuts, chickpeas, brown rice, and vegan dressing. Her afternoon snack is a NuGo Slim Crunchy Peanut Butter Vegan Protein Bar which keeps her full until dinner. Her dinner consists of broccoli steak topped with Daiya cheddar cheese, 3/4 cup brown rice, and black beans. Dessert is homemade vegan banana ice cream.
And who says vegans only eat fruits and vegetables?! Even though Madelaine drinks double of what the recommended water intake is, she's probably always thirsty since she works out 6 days a week. It is always recommended that women eat between 1,200 to 1,800 calories in order to get the nutrients they need, and Madelaine's diet is a great balance of protein, carbs, and healthy fats.
