Here's The Real Reason Peter Isn't The 2018 'Bachelor'

If you're wondering why...
Here's The Real Reason Peter Isn't The 2018 'Bachelor'

Bachelor fans desperately hoped that Rachel Lindsay would end up with our favourite gap-toothed personal trainer, Peter Kraus. Rachel and fans grew frustrated when Peter expressed his hesitation in proposing at the end of the show, as the two had only known each other for two months IRL. Rachel on the other hand was done playing around and ready to get married. If there was one thing she wasn't ready for, it was Peter's real world realness.

Peter was not shy about expressing how he didn't like how Bachelor shows are set up. And to his credit, it is kind of insane. To propose to someone after trotting around the world with them for 2-months? And half of that time was spent competing against other people for their attention? Pure craziness. As easy as it is to get swept away in the fairytale Bachelor magic, it takes a guy with a level head to slow things down and think rationally - not only about his future, but your future together.

Do we really want a Bachelor who isn't ready to settle down with a woman he loves? Hmmm. Not what #thebachelor is all about...

Although was a fan of this mentality - Bachelor execs were not. Let's face it, half the point of The Bachelor The Bachelorette is seeing a modern-day fairytale play out in front of our eyes. And to cast a guy who has publicly said he doesn't like that formula? Well, it would make them - and the franchise - look stupid as hell.

When it came time to cast the new BachelorBachelor execs knew the fans wanted Peter - but they weren't ready to let his attitude towards proposing slide. The Bachelor has already had a season end in the weirdest way possible - remember Juan Pablo? The fan favourite ended up being a total nightmare and concluded his season without a proposal or 'I love you' to poor Nikki Farrell. It's possible that Bachelor producers weren't willing to take the chance on Peter not proposing and for that reason, passed up on casting him as a season lead.

A source confessed to People that producers were panicking over Peter. The team approached him after getting a huge response from Bachelor nation, even though the franchise wasn't crazy about casting him.

"The producers feel like ANY demands coming from Peter are a bit much; they always think everybody should be falling all over themselves to get the honour [of being The Bachelor]. And Peter just doesn’t play that way. He doesn’t play by any of the rules — if he did, he’d have just proposed to Rachel even though he knew it wouldn’t work out, and then broken up with her a few months later, like Nick just did. But he couldn’t be forced into it.”

"The show likely would want him to promise to propose at the end — Nick definitely had to say he would go through with it — and it’s highly possible Peter just refused to promise, just like he refused to go ahead with Rachel," the source revealed. And with Peter, the strongest candidate for the lead out of the picture, there were few leading men left that would make solid leads.

Arie Jr. was a fan favourite of yore that almost scored the lead spot after Andi Dorfman's season, before losing it to "farmer" Chris Soules. He's older, a professional race car driver and was 100% ready to propose to Emily Maynard. Making him a perfect candidate for a classic franchise lead. If there had to be another Bachelor, we're happy it's him in 2018. To read more about Arie, click here

But we've gotta say, we're sad to see you go Peter. You were gorgeous and fun to watch. Hope we see you soon - whether in Paradise or on Corinne's spin-off

The "brutal" wait is over! Olivia Rodrigo is finally coming to Toronto next year with her debut studio album Sour.

The 18-year-old pop star will be touring across North America and Europe, showcasing hits like "drivers license," "deja vu," and "good 4 u" alongside Gracie Abrams, Holly Humberstone, and Baby Queen.
