Ready for two of your favourite worlds to collide? One of the most highly anticipated shows of the year so far is Hollywood on Netflix. The new series is set to premiere next month, and it’s the ultimate blend of Glee and American Horror Story.
From an outsider’s perspective, it may seem that a musical series about a group of eclectic high school students and an anthology series about murder and gore have absolutely nothing in common, but that’s not entirely true — they both come from the mind of Ryan Murphy.
Over the past few years, Murphy has teamed up with Netflix to work on several projects, including a brand new show called Hollywood.
The limited series takes audiences back in time to Hollywood’s post-World War II era. Each character we meet is doing everything they can to make it big in Tinseltown’s film industry, no matter the cost.
If the trailer is any indication, it looks like we're in for some serious drama, romance, and deceit.
The star-studded cast of the Netflix original includes many familiar faces from Murphy’s other shows. Glee alum Darren Criss, American Horror Story actors Patti LuPone and Dylan McDermott, and David Corenswet, who starred in The Politician all appear in the upcoming series.
Other big names cast include Jake Picking (Horse Girl), Jeremy Pope (The Ranger), Samara Weaving (SMILF), Jim Parsons (The Big Bang Theory), Holland Taylor (Legally Blonde), and Queen Latifah (Girls Trip).
Murphy’s first Netflix original is called The Politician and was released in September of 2019. According to Oprah Mag, season two of the dramedy is scheduled to premiere sometime in the summer of 2020.
Hollywood is coming to the streaming service on May 1. You can check out the trailer for the upcoming series below.
