A Free Crab Fest Is Coming To Crystal Beach This Summer

With crawfish season starting back up soon, it's easy to get caught up in making sure you have your mudbug plans in order. But in all the fuss about crawfish, it's important to not forget the other seafood that's now in season: crabs. There's a crab festival coming near Houston that celebrates the crustacean by going all out on different kinds of ways to cook and eat the delicious dish.

The annual Texas Crab Festival is coming back to Crystal Beach, which is just a short ferry ride away from Galveston, from May 8 through May 10. There's going to be a huge carnival near the beach paired with yummy seafood.

Literally anything crab related that you can think of will be there to satisfy your cravings. There are going to be vendors making everything from crab poppers and stuffed crab to BBQ crab.

There's also going to be crab leg contests and even a gumbo cookoff. It all sounds so tasty, we don't even know where to start!

Besides eating yourself into a tasty food coma, there are going to be plenty of other things to do including carnival rides, live music, Weiner dog races, and even a 5k if you want to run off all the calories you ate (you can do this, don't feel like you have to).

The festival is a three-day event over Mother's Day weekend and admission for Friday and Saturday is $10 for each day. However, Sunday's admission is free.

If you want to go all three days and plan to go with a group of people, they have a Weekend Group Package for $140 that includes admission all three days for four people, four gumbo tasting cups for the gumbo cookoff, and four bracelets for the Sunday carnival rides.

That sounds like a pretty good time to us.

Not only is admission to the fest a good deal but you also have the chance to win some money as well.

There are going to be different competitions like two-step dancing, entering your Weiner dog in the races, a cornhole tournament, a washers tournament, and even a scavenger hunt, with prize money for these events going up to $400!

While crawfish season is definitely an insanely popular time of year for Houstonians (for good reasons!), we also have other seafood options coming up this summer that are just as tasty, so don't miss out on what the city has to offer!
