In Houston, the beginning of spring means one thing, it's the start of crawfish season! Nothing's better than getting together with a big group of friends and gathering around a massive pile of mudbugs. You have to go to a boil at least once every season and this Houston crawfish fest with free admission is serving up tons and tons of meaty goodness this March. It's the perfect way to spend a sunny day!
The Heights is having a crawfish festival on March 7 and it is a great way to get in your crawfish fix this season.
The fest is going to be located in the heart of the Heights. The main dish of the event will be tons of crawfish but don't worry, they're going to come with corn and boiled potatoes as well.
There's also going to be a bar so you can wash down all the pounds of crawfish you eat with a cold beer.
Admission to the fest is free but to get crawfish you need to get "crawfish bucks" and $1 equals one "crawfish buck" which is simple enough.
A plate of steaming mudbugs is going to cost you twenty "crawfish bucks" but if you spend $100 you get twenty of the precious crawfish currency (or one plate) for free! It's worth it to come with your friends.
We Houstonians really love crawfish. The critter is so popular that this is only one fest of the many this season but the Heights' annual fest is definitely a great one.
Some of the other Texas crawfish fests out there include an all-you-can-eat fest and it's coming up soon in February if you can't wait to get your fix.
You could visit a crawfish fest every month if you want to in Houston. Start off the season by attending the massive fest in February, this Heights' one in March, and then cap off the season's festivities with an unlimited crawfish bash near Houston in April!
While chowing down on some delicious seafood, you can wander around the fest and check out different local vendors and listen to some live music.
