Nothing's better than fresh fruit on a hot and sunny Texas day. That first juicy bite makes being out in the heat worth it and with an abundance of farms around Houston, you have plenty of places to get fresh fruit from. However, if you want to pick your own strawberries, near Houston lies the cutest and biggest strawberry farm in Texas, and they are now letting you pick buckets of the yummy and fresh red fruit.
Froberg's Farm is a popular place to go to pick your own fruit and right now, they're in the height of their super popular strawberry picking season.
While the farm is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., seven days a week all year long, their strawberry picking season is limited and right now, the pick-your-own fields are ready for harvest.
Strawberry picking will reopen on Saturday, January 25, and we recommend getting there early because the fields get picked clean quickly.
However, the season goes on through May so if you can't make it out this weekend, just keep up to date on Froberg's website for when they will have fresh strawberries again.
Froberg's pick-your-own is available from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. To get access, you need to buy one of their buckets for $1.25 (cash!) and then you only pay $3 per pound you pick!
Houstonians really love pick-your-own farms and you definitely have options when it comes to which or how many farms you visit this spring!
There's a farm near Houston with stunning fields of flowers that is also letting visitors pick buckets of strawberries right now and is also a great option to visit.
This spring is a great time to be in Texas because of all of the picture-perfect farms everywhere with tons of fruits and flowers for us to pick from.
One of the biggest and newest flower fields in the state is a little far away from Houston but completely worth the day trip. San Antonio's new tulip fields, where you can pick your own colorful bouquet of flowers, is absolutely a must-visit this season!
Froberg's also has a lot you can do besides picking fruit. They have a bakery full of homemade treats like kettle corn and frosted pecans that are pretty much Texas farm staples. They also have tamales and a smokehouse with jerky.
The massive farm is worth the visit year-round and they even have blackberry and flower picking seasons, so you should definitely come back every time of the year. In the fall, be sure to walk through their corn maze and pick a bouquet of seasonal flowers.
Picking strawberries and eating some fresh kettle corn honestly sounds like the perfect day, so head on out this winter and spring!
