It's almost 2020, which means we need to start getting in the roaring twenties spirit. I'm talkin' massive parties, tons of jazz, and flapper-girl attire. This August in Houston, there will be a party every Saturday at the Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens, and it will be in perfect Gatsby style.
From 4 pm to 7 pm, the event will take place on the 14-acre property and on the first floor of the historic house museum that you're free to explore.
Museum of Fine Arts Houston is hosting this event with Axlerad Beer Garden and Decatur Bar & Pop-Up Factory. But here's the twist—it's a mocktail happy hour!
Back in the roaring 1920s, Americans were in the midst of Prohibition. City life was booming and alcohol was illegalized, so really, this event couldn't be more fitting for the decade we're soon approaching. Or more delicious!
Mocktails that will be offered at the event include Jalapeño Watermelon Aguas Fresca, Ginger Honey Lemonade, Aguas Frescas, and Cucumber Mint Spritzer.
This event is going to be a big one, which is a good thing because in the words of Jordan Baker, "I like large parties. They’re so intimate. At small parties, there isn’t any privacy.”
Admission costs just $10, and your last chance to get in is 6:15 pm. With the purchase of your ticket, you'll also get extra discounts including five dollars off admission to this magical new MFAH exhibit.
This event comes just in time to have a happy ending to our hot girl summer, because, like the great F. Scott Fitzgerald wrote, "Life starts all over again when it gets crisp in the fall.”
