Even though Halloween might not be super close, that doesn't mean that there aren't scary things to do near Houston. And just because it isn't October, doesn't mean the ghosts and ghouls go away until next fall. There are tons of places near Houston that are plenty scary year-around and are creepy visits even though it feels like the "official" spooky season is so far away.
The Moody Mansion on Galveston Island was first built in 1895 and since then has become home to a chilling and oftentimes sad history that makes this Texas attraction legitimately spooky.
But beyond having a creepy vibe, the mansion is actually really beautiful and is kept in great condition so that when you come inside it's as though you've been transported to the 1800s.
Fortunately, especially for those who might not live near Galveston, you can visit the estate seven days a week from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
They offer a variety of tours including a self-guided audio tour for $15 which is the perfect way to explore the old mansion and learn about this spooky Texas spot in peace.
However, if you want to really explore and visit parts of the creepy grounds that usually aren't available to the public, then you're in luck.
Moody Mansion also offers guided all-access tours available at 4 p.m. on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday for $35.
This means you can roam the estate as freely as the ghosts do and check out bone-chilling parts of the property with a guide who's very knowledgable on the mansion's history!
The Moody Mansion does have some mystery surrounding it as to whether it is for sure haunted or not, some say it's not and others believe it is.
Either way, we recommend taking lots of photos because this is the most popular way to actually see apparitions appear in this opulent house.
There have been reports of a high number of weird distortions in photos taken at the mansion that could possibly be apparitions.
This makes it super easy to ghost hunt, just open up the camera on your phone and snap some pics!
There's no better way to do some sleuthing and decide for yourself whether or not the mansion is haunted.
Start getting a group of friends together for a trip to the mansion and be prepared to leave with stories of eerie encounters.
Price: $15 - $35
