Themed bars with cool interiors and unique aesthetics seem to be popping up everywhere these days. While they're really cool places to go visit, sadly a lot of times the drinks come at a hefty price tag. However, tucked away in the heart of the city, there's a spot that looks like a surreal lit-up wonderland in an adorable old Houston dive bar!
Grand Prize Bar near Montrose is one of the most magical-looking bars in town. It has all the makings of a typical bar but it's completely decked out in fairy lights and crazy chandeliers everywhere.
It's definitely a very chill spot to grab drinks with friends on the weekends.
Grand Prize has all the great dive bar staples like pool tables, classic arcade games, affordable drinks, a jukebox, and even a photo booth but it's all completely covered in different types of lights making it a real surreal place to visit!
It's just as affordable as normal dive bars but the ambiance is on par with the trendier, more expensive bars. All of the decor makes it a picture-worthy place to visit with friends for a good price.
But Grand Prize's notalgia comes less from a theme and more so by keeping the dive feeling alive by just adding a ton of twinkly lights and keeping customers happy.
The bar is open every day from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. and also has a rotating kitchen with different cooks coming in and whipping up their specialties until 1:30 a.m.
