The holiday season is upon us, so you know what that means... there's Christmas magic everywhere! But instead of going to the same events you go to every year, why not try something not a lot of people know about. Forget about the crowds, and leisurely browse and ride down a snow slide in Houston at the Bayou Bend Estate and Garden's Christmas Village next month.
Once the former estate of the First Lady of Texas, Ima Hogg, Bayou Bend Collection and Gardens is transforming into a Christmas wonderland from December 12-30. At only $15 per ticket, this is one of the best winter experience bargains because it includes so much to do and see.
First, you'll definitely want to check out their giant snow slide. You can ride a tube down the 90-foot slide just like a scene straight out of a Hallmark movie. The best part is that even if you fall off, you won't get drenched because it's all fake snow. This is Texas, after all.
You can then roam the gardens to find all the landscaping covered in colorful lights. Every corner you turn and you'll see something new.
You'll even run into carolers singing your favorite Christmas tunes. If that's not really your thing, you can jam out on your own at music stations set up throughout the event.
They also have a huge suspension bridge decked out in winter lights that makes for great photos, and maybe even a proposal! You can thank us later if you get lucky enough to nab a ring at this spot.
Lastly, you have to take a tour of the home. Inside you'll find true Texas history with furniture that'll take you back in time. How about one next to their 15-foot Christmas tree? It is super The house will, of course, be decorated for the holidays, with live actors and theatrical effects. There's no village without a Christmas tree, and Bayou Bend's one is massive. It's super adorable, surrounded by a handcrafted model train.
