Houston Just Opened The World's Largest Museum Exhibit Of LEGOs & It's Unbelievable
LEGOs: you can soar through the galaxy after you build a miniature Millennium Falcon or a NASA Saturn V. But I hate to break it to you—no matter how perfect your instruction-following skills—one artist has got everybody's brick creations trumped. And by a long shot. But good news, you can now gawk at them up-close all you want. This Monday, The Houston Museum of Natural Science unveiled the largest exhibit of LEGOS in the entire world.
"The Art of The Brick" features more than 100 artworks with reimagined versions of famous masterpieces like “David,” “Starry Night” and “Mona Lisa.” As if they weren't impressive enough with just paint.
And of course, there is a whole bunch of LEGO sculptures like a 20-foot Tyrannosaurus Rex skeleton made up of more than 80,000 bricks, giant LEGO skulls, superheroes, and 3D other creations.
Created by Artist Nathan Sawaya, The Art of The Brick is a world-traveling exhibit—already well-loved by people in cities all over the U.S. and the globe. It is the first major exhibit of its kind to use Lego as a medium, so it's pretty cool. They even made a stop in Dallas earlier this year that was so popular they extended its stay.
The exhibit went on display on Monday, Oct. 7 and will continue through March 29, 2020. Tickets are $30 for adults, $21 for children and seniors, and $15 for members.
But hey, according to CNN, this is the Top Ten "Global Must-See Exhibitions," so it must be worth it.
There ain't no step-by-step guide book on these Lego sculptures, folks. This is the real deal. So let Sawayar's masterpieces be a reminder to never ever Lego of your dreams.
