Houston Is Having A Massive Gumbo 'Fest' This Winter & Tickets Are Only $10

It's going to be a gumbo-licious time.
This Winter Houston's Gumbo Cook Off Is Taking Place

Texans aren't used to having to endure cold weather, but we're certainly able to find the silver lining in the food that's perfect for the occasion. One meal that comes to mind is gumbo, a mouthwatering Louisiana dish that's like soup but a million times better. This winter, Houston's gumbo cook-off is taking place where you can try all the gumbo you can handle, all day long.

On Saturday, January 25 from 1 to 8 p.m., the 2nd Annual Gumbo Cook-Off is taking place at Cedar Creek Bar & Grill.

The cooking will begin at 10 a.m. and once you've bought your ticket and have your wristband secured, you're more than welcome to come and cheer on the different teams.

The actual tasting begins at 2 p.m. and the judging starts at 4.

The top three contestants and people's choice will leave with cash prizes, so be sure you're taking your tasting seriously!

Though, we know you will.

Tickets are just $10 per person to taste as much gumbo as you'd like, and $25 if you'd like a t-shirt in addition.

It's a small price to pay for a great time and an even better meal.

In addition to as much gumbo as you can possibly handle, Snit's Dog & Pony Show will be performing live music, with popular DJs performing right after.

Drinks will also be available for purchase from Houstonian's favorite breweries and spirit vendors, plus neighborhood bars and restaurants.

In the case of bad weather on the day of the event, makeup dates will be added.

Rain or shine, you will have the chance to enjoy a wonderful day of gumbo.

If foodie events such as this one are your cup of tea, be sure to check out all of the others Houston is having this winter.

Everything's bigger in Texas, which means so are the events!
