Get your popcorn ready — Netflix is back with yet another true-crime series that will leave you on the edge of your seat. Earlier today, the streaming service released the trailer for How to Fix a Drug Scandal, and from the looks of things, the docu-series is going to get seriously intense.

As seen in the trailer, the new show tells the story of a drug lab chemist from Amherst, Massachusetts named Sonja Farak. While she was supposed to be testing narcotics, Farak wound up trying and eventually becoming addicted to them.

In order to cover her tracks, Farak ended up falsifying thousands of results, which in turn, led to a mass amount of potential wrongful convictions that had to be assessed and (many of them) eventually overturned.

The series synopsis on YouTube reads, “In 2013, Massachusetts State Police arrested 35-year-old crime drug lab chemist Sonja Farak for tampering with evidence: and that was only the beginning. Over time, details emerged that Farak had been in fact using the drugs that she was tasked with testing.”

How to Fix a Drug Scandal is directed by Erin Lee Carr, who has made quite a noteworthy name for herself in the true crime documentary world.

According to her IMDb, Carr has directed Thought Crimes: The Case of the Cannibal Cop, At the Heart of Gold: Inside the USA Gymnastics Scandal, and the popular Gypsy Rose Blanchard film, Mommy Dead and Dearest.

This new Netflix original isn’t the only true-crime show to come from the streaming service so far. Killer Inside: The Mind of Aaron Hernandez and The Trials of Gabriel Fernandez have also been big hits with users of the app.

How to Fix a Drug Scandal will tell the shocking story of Farak’s struggle with addiction and how she was eventually caught throughout a total of four episodes.

Carr’s latest project is coming to Netflix on April 1. You can check out the trailer for the docu-series below.
