Hudson's Bay Stores In Ontario Are Reopening This Week & They'll Be Pretty Different

More notable stores are reopening in Ontario! Hudson's Bay has revealed it is officially starting its reopening process on May 22 with some adjusted hours. Both in-store and curbside pickup will be available for customers starting Friday.

According to a press release issued on May 20, Hudson's Bay will finally reopen its stores in Ontario while ensuring the health and safety of its employees and customers are prioritized.

“We will continue to take direction from government and public health experts, and have implemented a number of added measures to ensure we deliver a healthy, easy, and comfortable shopping experience," said Iain Nairn, President of Hudson’s Bay.

Customers will have the option to shop in stores where special measures will be put in place.

So what does that actually mean?

Well, for starters, there'll be enhanced cleaning as well as directional signs to help direct the flow of shoppers and to help enforce physical distancing.

Store hours will be cut down from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m. every day to ensure proper cleaning is done. Every Tuesday, the store will be open one hour earlier for frontline workers, seniors and people with disabilities.

It was also announced that the Saks Fifth Avenue in Toronto at Queen Street will also reopen on Friday with the same hours, but their Sherway Gardens location will close an hour later.

But if you're still not sure that heading into the stores is such a good idea, there's good news.

The Bay is offering curbside pickup at most of their locations for those who would rather keep their distance.

The statement also announces an "adjusted return policy" which allows for any purchase made after January 17 this year to be returned to a store within 30 days of it reopening.

The department store chain now joins a list of stores with street entrances that have been allowed to reopen in Ontario.

Stores aren't the only businesses included in the reopening plan, though.

Golf courses, marinas, and campgrounds have also got the green light to start businesses back up.

And to join in on all the news, Toronto is also reopening more than 850 park amenities this week as the summer weather hits.

So, things are progressing in parts of the province, but protocols are still in place.
