Humboldt Broncos Player Gets Heartwarming Hospital Visit From The Stanley Cup

It was only a week ago that we covered the horrific crash involving the Humboldt Broncos hockey team. Canadians across the country are still reeling from the loss of 16 innocent lives, while 10 more continue to fight in the hospital.

The Bronco's defenceman, Ryan Straschnitzki has been recovering at the Royal University Hospital since the accident. His family and friends have been by his side ever since he entered the hospital. With their help, he has been documenting his recovery via Twitter.

@NHL Look what made a surprise. Lord Stanley. And No. Ryan wouldnt touch it. Gotta win it to touch it. Jett didnt touch it either. Jaden, Momma and Erica. Wellllllllll. pic.twitter.com/66gkveYXfh

The unexpecting young hockey player received a surprise visit from the actual Stanley Cup. The picture above was tweeted from Ryan's official Twitter account.

In the caption, he even joked that he didn't actually touch the cup, he knows that you have to win to be able to touch it.

@NHLBlackhawks@JonathanToews So Ryans favourite player just sent a great surprise. Look at those smiles. pic.twitter.com/nYudckfHiF

According to Global News, on Friday Jonathan Toews of the Chicago Blackhawks and Winnipeg Jets chairman Mark Chipman delivered jerseys with the Broncos nameplate to the Humboldt players.

We applaud the NHL for arranging the surprise visits for Ryan. It's any hockey player's dream to see the Stanley Cup up close and personal like that!
