Bouncy curls without the damage? Yes, please!
You've probably seen people on TikTok using random objects — socks, towels, scarves, etc. — to achieve heatless waves but TBH, those never really worked for me. But then I tried this heatless hair curling kit ($50) from Heatless Babe Waves, a female-led business in Toronto.
I'll admit, I was a little hesitant at first since my previous attempts with heatless curls never worked out. To my surprise, I was flat-out wrong.
I'm the type of person who sleeps on a $75 silk pillowcase (it's fine, you can judge me), so the first thing I appreciated about this Heatless Babe Waves kit is that it's silky smooth. That means no snags or friction which will keep your hair safe from damage and frizz.
It also comes with two silky scrunchies and a super cute pearl hair clip, which I use all the time, even when I'm not prepping my hair for curls.
So, for context, here's my hair before I used the heatless hair curling kit. It has a bit of a natural wave to it, but nowhere close to the bouncy curls I often dream about.
First, I brushed my hair out and sprayed it with a bit of water. My hair tends to get frizzy, so I also applied a dollop of Verb Ghost Weightless Hair Oil (it's my fave, and it's only $20) and a spritz of Amika's Curl Refreshing Spray.
I used the tutorial on the brand's Instagram which was easy to follow. I secured the cushion to my head with the clip, then, starting at my bangs, I pulled my hair over the cushion while adding more and more hair in as I moved down. I then tied off the ends with the scrunchies, fastened the ribbon at the back of my head, removed the clip and went to bed. It took less than 10 minutes to do, even on my first try!
The results? Magical. For once, I can proudly say that yes, I did wake up like this — thanks to Heatless Babe Waves.
I think the heatless wave kit has officially become my new go-to method when it comes to curling my hair. I'm excited to experiment with it some more — and I might even add it to my holiday shopping list and pick up a kit or two for the beauty and self-care enthusiasts in my life. 10/10!
