In the small town of Invermere, B.C., a woman was caught on an ice cream store's security camera dressed in a blanket and wielding a hammer. She proceeded to demand cash from the employees and eventually took off with an undisclosed amount of money. Fortunately, no one was harmed by the Invermere Dairy Queen robber.
In a release shared with Narcity, Columbia Valley RCMP wrote that a little after 8 p.m. on Wednesday, a blanket-clad woman entered the local Dairy Queen while brandishing a hammer. She went on to demand money from the staff.
The suspect exited from the restaurant with an undisclosed amount of currency, to a nearby location," said Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey, spokesperson for the RCMP Southeast District.
She entered into a small passenger car and fled the area.
The person has not yet been identified. RCMP are currently investigating, and they're asking anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
Police have also released pictures in an attempt to identify the suspect.
In their statement, Columbia Valley RCMP described the suspect as "a Caucasian female, approximately 50-55 years of age, of medium to heavy build, with long blonde hair."
She was seen wearing all black clothing, including dark running shoes. Surrounding her was a large yellow blanket.
O'Donaghey assures that the employees present were offered support by RCMP victim services.
"Thankfully, no one was injured during this incident," he added.

There are obviously a ton of questions to be asked here, like why the blanket? And why Dairy Queen, of all places? At least she didn't go stealing $60k worth of avocados, but this is only marginally less bizarre.
Who knows, maybe she stole $60k worth of Blizzards. A truly grisly crime.
Unfortunately, this is all the information that has been made available by the RCMP right now.
There's been a lot of weird crimes happening in Canada lately, and this is another to add to the list.
