For as long as most of us can remember, good old Tim Hortons has been the real MVP of Canadian coffee and donut culture. Simple, quick, and cheap, it was everything you could want in a quick stop. However, with the introduction of a number of new drinks and snacks over the last few months, some Canadians are beginning to wonder is Tim Hortons still good? As it seems they have lost their way, some people are wondering if the classic Canadian brand is having a bit of an "identity crisis".
Since the beginning of the year, Tim Hortons has introduced a number of new snacks and drinks, some of which really seem to have raised a few eyebrows.
Firstly, they introduced a vegetarian-range of breakfast wraps and sandwiches, all featuring their new "Beyond Sausage" meat. They went on to bring in a selection of veggie burgers too, also made with the popular Beyond meat brand. Last month, they introduced a Jolly Rancher slushy, which had mixed reviews, as well as a whole selection of "Creamy-Chill" milkshake-type summer drinks. Heck!
That is not all! In recent months, Tim Hortons has also opened a brand-new, extra-bougie version of their classic restaurant in Toronto, featuring seven different coffee-serving methods, including a pour-over, as well as seven milk options, including almond and soy.
If this wasn’t enough to get your head spinning, as of August Toronto Tim Hortons is also offering a home-delivery service, so you can get donuts and coffees (and burgers, wraps, milkshakes, and slushies) straight to your door!
For long-time Tims fans, all of these changes are a little overwhelming and have caused some social media users to question whether Tim Hortons has forgotten their classic coffee ‘n’ donuts roots. A coffee shop that home delivers slushies, burgers and vegan wraps, while serving drinks with sweets inside and potato wedges, is all a little ... much, causing one Twitter user to speak out.
In a post that went viral last week, Twitter user @tyeprincess wrote, “Tim Hortons is very clearly going through an identity crisis and we’re all just watching.”

In response to her own tweet, the user added, “How y’all selling vegan meat burgers with dairy cheese and also opening an “innovation” cafe? What is happening? Do we need to talk? What is a mango creamy chill? I have questions.”
At the time of writing, the post had 4,700 retweets and more than 20,000 likes. There were also plenty of responses to the original post, with hundreds of Twitter users agreeing that Tims has lost its way.
Several Tim Hortons employees also got involved in the Twitter thread, agreeing that the chain had gone a little too far with all of their new ideas. One employee noted, “On behalf of all Tim’s employees we’re sorry too trust me.”

In a number of tweets separate from the post that blew up, other Twitter users were also concerned about the Tim Hortons "identity crisis."
One Canadian wrote, “I’m sure I speak for many Canadians when I say Tim Hortons is going through an identity crisis and we’re all just trying to ignore it until it’s over.”
Another joked, “... Having an identity crisis at about the same level as Tim Hortons.”

Whatever you think of Tim Hortons' new menus and venues, it is definitely good that they are attempting to appeal to a wider range of people.
Additionally, if you ever fancy a blueberry donut, burger, cherry slushy, black coffee, veggie breakfast wrap and a chicken sandwich, all in one go — I know a perfect place for you!
