I think that one of the main reasons why so many people love crime shows is because they usually tell compelling stories that audiences usually wouldn't get to see first hand. Not a lot of us are coming face to face with serial killers or being robbed at gunpoint, so being able to experience those things through TV shows draws audiences in. Unfortunately, Netflix's latest crime drama is about an issue that many people have had to face in real life, but that may be why people are loving it so much. Is Unbelievable on Netflix good? The show scored 92% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Earlier today, September 13, Netflix released a series that's been highly anticipated since the trailer first came out a few months ago. The series is called Unbelievable and is about a young woman who was sexually assaulted. Although she was brave enough to go to the police to tell her story, substantial evidence cannot be collected, leaving people to ponder whether she's telling the truth or not.
Things are looking quite dim until it comes to light that several other girls in different counties have been assaulted in the same way, forcing police to investigate further into the crimes at hand.
Unbelievable has only been out for a few hours now, but people are already saying that it's not only one of the best shows of 2019, but is also one of "the best crime dramas in recent memory." In my opinion, its the fact that so many of us can relate to this heartbreaking story that makes it so great.

Another thing that the show is able to do is bring to light just how poorly the justice system can treat victims of sexual assault, and how we are so often pushed to the side during the investigation process, or sometimes even totally ghosted and forgotten about by the system.
Sexual assault is something that's not easy to talk about for many victims, whether it's because they don't have the support they need to come forward, doing so will put them in a dangerous situation, or they're not ready to come to terms with it themselves. Shows like Unbelievable help to remind victims that we are not alone, there is power in numbers, and there is hope.
The gripping show that's based on a true story is 100% worth the watch, whether you're a victim yourself, know a victim, or are just looking for some good TV. All eight episodes of the series are available for streaming on Netflix now.
