Since it first started back in 2009, RuPaul's Drag Race has become a hit TV show that's loved by audiences all across the world. Seasons two through ten are currently available on Netflix Canada, and since they made their debut on the streaming service, Canadians have gone crazy for the show. It's Official, Drag Race Canada is happening so get ready to lip sync for your life.
It was announced today, June 27th, by streaming service Crave that a new original streaming service is coming our way - Drag Race Canada. This is the first ever Canadian adaption of the show, although Canadian contestants have competed on the original series before.
The exciting news comes just as Pride month is coming to a close, which gives the LGBTQ2S+ community another reason to celebrate, especially here in Canada. Show creator RuPaul is beyond excited to see the series expand to Canada.
"I am proud to announce that the Drag Race family is expanding as Crave is about to begin production on DRAG RACE CANADA. The panel and judges will be from the Great White North, representing Canada's very best. This new franchise has my whole-hearted blessing. Good luck…and don't puck it up!"
Along with the new series, Crave is also bringing all past and future seasons of RuPaul's Drag Race to the streaming service, along with the all new RuPaul's Drag Race UK series. Fans of the show all across the globe have a lot to be excited about today.
Casting for the new series will begin this summer, and production is likely to begin this fall, somewhere in Ontario. Hosts and judges for the show have yet to be officially announced, but RuPaul already hinted in the press release that we can expect to see some major Canadian talent, not only competing in drag but judging as well!
