Florida Caverns State Park In The Panhandle Has Hidden Tunnel Cave You Can Hike Through

Life is better in hiking boots, especially in Florida. While the Sunshine State isn't known for its caves, there are many hidden here that are worth the visit. There's a park in the Florida Panhandle with stunning natural features that hikers and nature-lovers need to explore. Florida Caverns State Park has beautiful caverns and a trail that leads you through a tunnel cave.

Florida Caverns State Park is located three and a half hours outside Jacksonville and just an hour and 15 minutes from Tallahassee.

While they're most popular for their colorful underground caverns, you can find a bright blue spring hidden in an unexpected spot, as well as explore the cave tunnel on their above-ground hiking trails.

The cavern can be found along Bluff Trail, also known as Floodplain Trail. Follow it until you find what looks like a low stone archway and a sign that reads "Tunnel Cave."

It's one of few caverns at the park that can be accessed without a guide. You can hike through this remarkable rocky crevice that leads you straight through the hillside.

It's always a good idea to use a flashlight and be careful as you make your way through the passage. You may need to stoop a bit as you walk too.

When you come out on the other side, take a look around at the magnificent trees and limestone formations.

Remember to be a responsible cave explorer and refrain from touching, picking things up, polluting, and vandalizing this natural wonder while also respecting the wildlife.

If you've had your fill of beaches and boardwalks, you should put this cave on your hiking list. If you find yourself closer to Central Florida, you can find another hidden cave at Discovery Cove in Orlando or hit up these natural tunnels in South Florida, too.
