Jimmy Kimmel Is The First Official Mayor Of Dildo, Newfoundland

This just goes to show that anything is possible!
Jimmy Kimmel Is The First Official Mayor Of Dildo, Newfoundland

All week long, late-night TV host Jimmy Kimmel has been endlessly talking about his ongoing campaign to be elected as the mayor of a small town in Newfoundland called Dildo. The entire thing started out as a joke but has quickly spiralled and brought some major publicity to the quiet Canadian town. Jimmy Kimmel's Dildo mayor campaign was incredibly successful.

When he first heard about Dildo last week, Kimmel made a massive fuss about the town and dedicated a segment on Jimmy Kimmel Live! to it. When the residents heard about Kimmel's ongoing obsession, they practically begged him to come for a visit so he can see what Dildo is really all about.

After getting a chance to get to know some of the Dildonians, Kimmel decided that the next most appropriate step in his relationship with the town was to declare his candidacy for mayor. Campaigning began immediately, and Kimmel even sent his beloved assistant up to Canada's east coast to generate some hype for him.

Initially, Kimmel was running unopposed, so he was an obvious shoo-in for the spot. Earlier this week though, actor Matt Damon began campaigning with signs around Dildo as well, giving Kimmel some serious competition.

After a long week of waiting for the final result, Kimmel finally got some good news last night - he's been declared the conditional honourary mayor of Dildo, Newfoundland. When he asked about what the conditions are, Kimmel was told by residents that he'll have to come to Dildo himself.

"That goes without saying. I’m definitely coming,” Kimmel said. “I will be a fair mayor, I will be a kind mayor. I won’t have to do any work as mayor, will I?”

Later in the episode, Newfoundland's own premier Dwight Ball made an appearance to congratulate Kimmel on his new title, which the host seems very excited about. "What started as a silly joke has turned into a silly joke that ABC spent like $100,000 on, so in a way, no matter what happens, I've already won."
