Jimmy Kimmel Wants To Be The Mayor Of Dildo After Talking To Residents Of The Small Canadian Town

If you've been watching late-night television over the last week or so, chances are high that you've heard about a small town in Newfoundland called Dildo. The reason for the town's recent rise in popularity has a lot to do with comedian and TV host Jimmy Kimmel finding out about the community. Jimmy Kimmel's Dildo, Newfoundland obsession is continuing to grow.
When he found out about the town that's home to just 1,200 people, Kimmel instantly became obsessed. "I want to know everything about this place. I wanna go there, I wanna buy t-shirts, I wanna meet the townspeople - how do we not know about this?", he said.
After much anticipation, Kimmel finally got the chance to speak with some Dildonians on Jimmy Kimmel Live last night, and it was QUITE the show, to say the least.
The host started out by asking where the obscure town name came from, but no one had a definite answer - just that it's been recorded as early as the 1700s, and nobody has ever wanted to change it.

After talking with the townspeople some more, Kimmel made a seriously big announcement. He's interested in running for mayor in the town of Dildo. The residents seemed to laugh at the idea, and told him that in order to be considered, he'd have to actually come to the town and get "screeched in", which is a Newfoundland tradition that involves kissing a codfish and getting drunk.
Kimmel seemed totally up to the challenge, and went on to show the audience some merchandise he's been crafting to promote the town, including a shirt that says "everyone's got a little Dildo in them", and a children's book modelled after Where's Waldo? called Where's Dildo?
The entire segment of the show was totally hilarious and even ended with a song written by two locals, Dean and John Reid, about the pride they have for their little community. You can check out the song, and everything Jimmy had to say in the video above.
