This Retro Amusement Park In North Texas Is Like Something Out Of An 80s Movie

You know those amusement parks you only see in the movies that are super retro and picture perfect with all their wacky rides that you can never seem to find in reality? Well, look no further because Joyland Amusement Park in Lubbock looks like its straight out of an 80s film and it is a blast to visit. The park has over 30 rides including water rides and rollercoasters! And even though they are adding new renovations, it never takes away from its amazing retro aesthetic.

The park as it stands today first opened in the 1940s with only 13 rides. Now you'll be able to find rides like the X-Factor Extreme which straps visitors in and swings them in the air. Visitors can also ride the Wild River Log Flume which stands 60 feet tall with tons of twists and turns and plenty of water to refresh you through the hot Texas summer.

The park isn't usually opened Friday mornings but seeing that it's summer, they have made the exception and will open from starting at 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. from now through August. The Park is open from Tuesday through Friday from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m., on Saturday from 2 p.m. to 10 p.m., and on Sunday from 2 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Ticket prices for the park range from $20 to $23. You can also buy a non-ride pass during the weekend for just $6.50. If you do happen to get a non-ride pass then end up changing your mind, you can buy a one ride pass for only $2.75.

Joyland Amusement Park is located at 500 Canyon Lake Dr, Lubbock, TX 79401. For more information on the park, you can visit their website here.
