Justin Bieber Got Candid About His Addiction Problems In The Newest Episode Of "Seasons"

Justin Bieber’s Seasons docu-series has been giving viewers details on the artist that no one has known about until now. The 10-episode series that premiered on his YouTube channel on January 27 explores his creative process when it comes to making a new album and the raw struggles in his personal life. In the docu-series’ newest episode, the “Yummy” singer got real about what it was like suffering through his addiction problems and Lyme disease in the spotlight.
Bieber announced the series back in December, right before he also revealed he was suffering from Lyme disease. On Instagram, he wrote, “While a lot of people kept saying Justin Bieber looks like sh*t, on meth etc. they failed to realize I’ve been recently diagnosed with Lyme disease...These things will be explained further in a docu-series I'm putting on YouTube shortly.”
Since its premiere, the footage has mostly focused on his music process and relationship with wife Hailey Bieber, but the release of episode 5 took a drastic turn.
The episode opens with a trigger warning making viewers aware that the video will contain “discussions about addiction and anxiety.”
While explaining how he went from being a 13-year-old who was dependent on marijuana then moving on to drinking lean, using molly and even shrooms, he admitted that his addiction was “an escape.”
He also confessed to self-medicating because of his undiagnosed “crippling anxiety.”
The Canadian celeb delved into some more deep-rooted issues about the lack of stability in his childhood that impacted how he acted in the spotlight, “My parents never gave me those tools [to reject negativity] to be a good team player.”
When the time came to turn his life around, Bieber admitted it was because he was basically “dying.” His security team was reportedly responsible for checking his pulse each night to make sure he was still alive.
His manager Scooter Braun also spoke out about his experience with an addicted Bieber, “We didn’t speak a lot during the time he was running amok.”
The rest of the episode deals with his recovery process and what he does to maintain his health now.
Therapy, music, and an IV treatment used to flush toxins out of the body are all part of the singer’s new and improved healthy lifestyle.
Episode 6 of Seasons will premiere on Bieber's YouTube channel on February 5.
