"Justin Bieber: Seasons"

After weeks of anticipation and waiting, the first episode of Justin Bieber: Seasons has finally arrived on YouTube. The introduction to this 10-part docu-series takes Bieber back to his hometown of Stratford, Ontario and it has us feeling seriously nostalgic.

As the episode begins, the 25-year-old is seen driving around with his wife, Hailey Bieber in the backseat, and a member of his management team riding shotgun, interviewing him.

“We’re going to Stratford to see my hometown because it’s awesome, and I haven’t shown anyone since Never Say Never — my first favourite documentary,” Bieber tells the cameras.

He then joked that the new project he’s working on is a series called Justin and Hailey take Stratford. He also referenced his 2011 movie again, saying that he hoped they would see someone playing violin on the street so he could give them cash, just like he did in Never Say Never.

The first stop that the Biebers make is to a set of steps where Justin used to perform back in the day. He mentions that a star was placed at the location in his honour on July 1, 2011, to commemorate the local celebrity’s childhood spent in the small Canadian town.

After visiting those historic steps, Bieber takes his wife and camera crew on a further tour of his childhood town. He even pointed out a school he used to attend, recalling a time when he jumped the fence and got suspended.

Next up on the list of destinations is the Stratford native’s childhood apartment. “I’m pulling up in a Range Rover. I never would’ve thought that in a million years,” the “Yummy” singer says.

As they tour the building, Bieber explains that the place was quite run-down when he lived there and that he was embarrassed by it.

“Because I was so ashamed to live in such low housing standards, I used to tell my friends, ‘Yeah, there’s a bowling alley downstairs — it’s just rented out right now.”

The first episode continues with some major milestones for the Canadian icon over the years, including his 2019 Coachella performance with Ariana Grande. According to the video, that concert played a huge factor in getting him back in the studio.

“The older that I get, the more I realize that I’m not utilizing my gift for the right reasons. This isn’t about me, it’s about helping someone who’s going through whatever they’re going through, and being able to talk about that thing. I think that’s a really cool way to look at what I do,” Bieber said.
